Privacy
This page explains what this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. SanTan Systems is a one-person practice, so “I” here means me, Tim Heuermann.
When you send a message
The contact form asks for your name, email address, business (optional), and message. I use them to reply to you and to keep a record of our conversation. Submissions are stored on the server that runs this site and emailed to me through Resend, an email delivery service.
I also use an AI assistant to help improve this site, and it can read recent messages to see what people ask about. Before it sees a message, your email address, everything in your name except your first name, and any email addresses or phone numbers you wrote in the message are removed. It sees your first name, your business, your email’s domain (or only that it’s a personal address, such as Gmail), the page you sent the form from, and your message. The assistant uses AI models from OpenAI and Anthropic, reached through Cloudflare.
To keep out spam, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person is sending it. Cloudflare processes information about your browser and connection to make that check. Turnstile loads only when you scroll near the form.
When you visit
I use PostHog, an analytics service, to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, how far people read, which site or link brought them here, the kind of device and browser, approximate location based on IP address, and whether the contact form was sent. A cookie and your browser’s local storage let PostHog recognize a returning browser, so repeat visits are counted correctly.
PostHog doesn’t receive anything you type into the contact form, and there are no session recordings. I don’t use analytics to identify you.
The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which handles every visit, including your IP address, to serve pages quickly and protect the site from attacks.
If a page fails with an error
When the site hits an error while loading a page, the server sends PostHog a report so I can find and fix the problem. The report says what kind of error it was, where in the site’s code it happened, and which page was being loaded. Email addresses are removed from it. It doesn’t include anything you typed, your IP address, cookies, or anything that connects it to you or your visits, so it’s sent whether or not analytics is on in your browser.
An automated assistant I run reads these reports and suggests a fix, which I review before anything changes.
What I don’t do
I don’t sell personal information or share it for advertising. There are no advertising cookies or tracking pixels on this site.

Analytics in this browser
Your browser sends Global Privacy Control, so analytics is already off. You don’t need to do anything else. Analytics is on in this browser. Analytics is off in this browser. The choice is saved in your browser’s local storage, so clearing site data resets it.
